I always forget...

Creating a web part for WSS 3.0 is pretty easy. In fact it's really easy.

However, for some reason, my web parts never work first time; so I've decided to set out a list of the things I forget which scupper my best laid plans

1. The class needs to be public, doh!

2. Using controls? Did you remember to EnsureChildControls?

3. You need to sign the assembly and register it as safe within the web.config

4. Don't forget, in a farm the assemblies need to be on all of the machines

Some people may be thinking, "Come on, that's day one week one!", sometimes it's the simple things that you forget!
